Lead Supplier Quality Engineer

Essential Responsibilities

• Provide leadership to drive growth in business cooperation between GE Oil & Gas and the supplier base.
• Be the technical focal point for supplier activities directed toward process control and quality assurance of forgings, pipe and ring components. Establish a structured approach for consistency and adherence to quality procedures and requirements.
• Work closely with various functions in Oil & Gas to conduct First Piece Qualification (FPQ), Quality Surveillance, and Capacity audits .
• Aid in supplier approval process – manufacturing, technology, and Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) risk analysis.
• Track and work on Request For Quotation (RFQ’s) and new business opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement of supplier’s quality, cycle, and delivery performance through Six Sigma.
• Work closely with Sourcing, Manufacturing, Project Management and Engineering to eliminate roadblocks and communication barriers that may affect quality and delivery requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

• BS/MS Mechanical/Material Degree.
• Hands-on experience in supplier development and practical manufacturing (shop floor) exposure.
• Supplier quality management or supplier technical development experience preferred.
• At least 3 years related experience in fabrication and machining of large components.
• Six Sigma trained and Certified (GE employees only).
• Demonstrated technical aptitude: strong background in interpretation of blueprints/specifications, metrology, and manufacturing process planning/evaluation.
• Demonstrated written & verbal communication skills.
• Analytical and problem solving skills.
• Advanced technical Degree.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and Inspection techniques.
• Ability to work in cross-functional, global team environment.
• Passion for excellence with high integrity, commitment to quality, fluent in oral and written in English, willing to take frequent travel.
